Dear Brother and Sister Gardanier,
A quick note to let you know your son has arrived safely in the Virginia Richmond mission. We met him at the airport with the other arriving missionaries. Given the late arrival hour and with the COVID-19 guidelines for not gathering in large groups, your son is spending the night with a companionship near the airport. He’ll meet his new companions tomorrow morning and will be serving in the Charlottesville 2nd ward of the Waynesboro, Virginia Stake. I also felt impressed before his arrival that he should continue his serve as a zone leader. He’ll be serving with two other zone leaders as he acclimates to doing missionary work from an apartment on a smart phone. It was evident to me that he comes with faith and great desire to continue his missionary service to the Lord. We’re so grateful he is here! This is a beautiful part of the country with equally beautiful people.
On a personal note, our two sons served missions and we know the worry that can be with parents during their children’s service. We promise to take care of him.
Preparation day is on Monday. That’s most likely when you’ll hear from him. However, missionaries do have an option during this period of self-isolation to call home mid-week if helpful for them. Thank you for all that you’ve done both to prepare him to serve a mission and to help him return to the mission field. May the Lord bless you with peace and joy during this time of transition for your family.
Warmest regards,
President Droubay
