This
week was definitely unique and unforgettable!!!
Because my boys (aka Flamengo aka the soccer team here in Rio) had the
finals against Argentina for the South American cup, we had to stay indoors
starting at 5 and just listen to people scream and shout and party for
Flamengo.
But my companion and I had a really cool experience that had him saying
after, "this is probably the coolest experience I´ve had on my
mission so far." BOOM. That felt like the feeling of eating Açaí with
powdered milk (sooo good fyi. you gotta try it before you judge). What happened
is Sunday I turned to him and said "Let´s find a new investigator right
now but you are gonna lead the way." He was kinda nervous at the bold
statement because not every day we just decide, and actually happen, let´s
baptize people! But he turned to a random door and called the people for a
glass of water. The man came to the fence but instead of opening, he legit
ripped off one of the panels just big enough to hand some water through...I kinda
laughed knowing these types of people aren´t too receptive. But after talking
and offering service liking painting a house, he left (while we still had the
glass of water in hand) to get some more water. I jokingly said to my
companion, “don´t get water, get hot chocolate.” The guy came back with the key
that he found, opened the door, and screamed to his wife "These elders
will paint our house for free!!" But as we looked at their perfect house
that was spotless my companion and I got so nervous because this house would be
ruined with the paint job of 2 elders...they need professionals. But as we got
talking, they invited us in, he showed us his million movies he has, we sang
Mama Mia together for a quick moment, they made us hot chocolate voluntarily,
and we shared a message where they got saying how we are angles sent from God.
Like a perfect family. The only problem is they are never in their house...but
God prepared them for us!!! As we were leaving I was talking with the wife and glanced
over at my companion and saw he and the husband were embracing in a huge hug
haha. I laughed as this stranger just hugged me and walked us out....What a juxtaposition
from tearing down the fence because he thought we were robbers to giving us the
biggest hugs!
God is so good!
