Let
me just start off with some good news because this is my present this year
to everyone. We got 2 dates marked for baptism this week...6 people went to
church...AND the woman missionaries that I´ll get home with got to the MTC last
week. Pretty stoked if you can ́t tell. Let´s just say you can say my world was LIT this past week and I
am a happy (fat) Elder here in Brazil!!!
We
had another great lesson with (santa) Clausner and he accepted the date to be
baptized on December 28th!!! It could’ve been sooner but he wants to get
baptized with his wife that day too so we have to wait until she visits church
2 times! LET'S GO!!!!.
But while we were at his house we taught about repentance and how things
of the world pull our attention away from what really matters most and the true
meaning of Christmas. After our lesson he apprehensive said, "Well. I
have these two presents for you guys for Christmas but really you don´t have to
have them because I don´t want to pull the attention away from Christ this
Christmas." That´s when I quickly said "Giving presents will help you
come unto Christ ;) ;) ;)" haha. But when I opened up this Utah Jazz mug
he made for me I legit gave him the biggest hug and wanted to cry because
CLAUSNER IS THE BOMB.COM. Literally, what investigator after 3
weeks of teaching accepts the invite to be baptized AND makes me, my
companion, and this Bolivian we live with PERSONALIZED MUGS??? Idk. He might be
one of the three Nephities. And I can´t help but smile every time I leave
Clausner yells in "Utah Jazz" in a Portuguese accent. Sweet sweet
moments like these.
As
far as funny moments...it´s just the little things. My companion and I
were walking home from (basically Costco here) SUPERBOM, and I had half a
watermelon in a bag (important info). I was just walking peacefully and started
to hum. Then quietly sing. And started to belt a song. But as I was doing this
I started to swing my bag of watermelon and it got higher and higher until I
finally hit the high note in my song and the watermelon went flying out one end
of the bag AT THE PEAK HEIGHTH and landed with a splat. It left a good skid
mark on the ground crushing my dreams of a good watermelon that night. But it I
definitely laughed to myself just imagining how that looks hahah.
The missionary work is
soo good and know that Christ is at the head of this church!!! I´m so thankful
I get to Light the World this year as a missionary, but know we all can play
different parts in building the kingdom of God here on earth to prepare for the
FAST approaching second coming!!! Love ya all!!!
Elder Gardanier
