I and
my Brazilian church friend singer, Nicole Luz, wish you all a Merry Christmas.
(PS, go listen to her music on YouTube and the church sites. SHE´S BOMB.COM)
Can I just say what a blessing it is to be a missionary, declaring the
most important message in the world, during the MOST important time of the
year? I ́d consider that a win win win. booyah. One present I got this past
week was the secretaries in my mission calling us and telling us, you guys get
to move! Dang. So we took down all our decorations and boxed everything up to
move last week. THEN. We got another call that things went south and we won't
move until this upcoming Friday. wut. So, sadly, our Christmas tree is packed
away and we get to live out of boxes and a messy house for Christmas!!!
But as far as the work of the Lord....IT´S SO GOOD. My companion and I
gave up sugar and desserts this past week as our investigator gave up coffee. She
is a hard core drinker. (Ps. going without acai and the special sweet breads
they have here is almost impossible.) But every day as we checked in she just
said how she didn´t feel any lack or any need to drink coffee. We offered to
buy juices or cervada (ak knockoff coffee) but she is loving water! When we
taught the word of Wisdom this past week--afraid of what she would say, her
response was tears as we testified of the blessings of the Word of Wisdom. We
challenged her to give it up for a week but now she is saying "if I can
make a promise with the Lord I will give it up until the New Year." What? How
am I so blessed to be changed by these amazing people?
AND. on top of it all. Our investigators that will (hopefully) get
baptized this week said "if we had a pool, I´d ask you guys to baptize us
in the backyard right now." But his wife got super apprehensive how
everything is approaching so fast. I just told her "Eduarda, you are
already living the life of a member; Word of Wisdom. Chasity. Charity. Being a
missionary, etc. BUT without the blessings of being a member." She kinda
froze and I said "it´s so normal to feel scared and not ‘prepared’ because
it's true there is so much more to learn. I, as a missionary, am learning so
much every day AND I was born into the church. She definitely relaxed a lot
more and we manage to mark a baptism time, and an interview during this CRAZY
BUSY time of year when everyone has plans.
But to conclude, I don't know why I was so blessed with the greatest
family every. With the best education and greatest friend who have pushed me. I
don´t know what I did in the pre-earth life to be born into the church in UTAH
of all places. God. Is. So. Good. Let us celebrate his goodness by doing
EXACTLY what he would do if he were here.
Amo vocês!!
Elder Gardanier
