My
home that I called home for 6 months is now not my home.
Let´s just talk about the grand problem of missions. It´s
tough when you get transferred. Literally I never would have thought that
some Brazilians here in Campos could rip my heart to shreds so fast by giving
me the best experiences that I´ll leave behind here. My heart hurt when
Clausner started to cry when he found out I would leave...and when a member
here (Sister Suely) gave a talk at a devotional we had and said, "I am
texting a mom from the United States about how much she misses her son Elder
Gardanier. We are too going to miss him as he leaves this ward..."and she
is crying too. DANG. Definitely watered the roses as I left the Church for
the last time...

This past Sunday I got a call. I´ll be transferred 10 hours
away to a city called Nanuque which is close to the Bahia in Brazil (aka the
Carnival capitol which is next month. rip). But I was super surprised when
my President called me to be Zone Leader. Wow. I just kept saying, "Wow President,
you have a lot of confidence in me." Probably more than I have in myself
right now. BUT. I know that the Lord can see a whole lot more than we can even
see in ourselves. He can see our capacity. He can see our potential of one day
to be a God like he is. SO. If he calls me to be Zone Leader, "I WILL GO
AND DO."
But to recap this week. Edurada finally was baptized and it was the most
amazing thing ever! (It´s funny how much better the ward works with the Relief Society
on top of everything..huh. Funny) But basically the whole ward was there, a few
investigators, AND some members who are inactive OR how we call them
"members returning."
The Relief Society sang as Sisters in Zion and Edurada was in Tears. My
friend William sang I Will Go and Do (the 2020 youth Mutual theme) and
basically I have never heard this ward be so quiet and reverent in my life. It
truly was such a celebration to the start of this amazing journey they will
take together!

BUT. One of the tenderest parts was when Edurarda’s husband, Clausner,
got up to share his testimony and spoke with the Power of the Spirit. Literally
a future apostle. He bore witness of how true this church is, how much he longs
to continue firm in the church, and to marry in the temple with his wife. They
are such blessings to me along with every single member in this ward!!
I´ve
been so blessed to be a part of this ward and this mission! I´m excited to take
on some killer mountain/hills and heat!
Love you all!
Elder Gardanier
