Major
learning this week.
Two stories here that just show why I´m a believer. No. KNOWER that God
is a God of Miracles. Honestly I was just in tears thinking about how good our
Heavenly Father is. Even though it´s hard. It´s soooo good.
1. I was on divisions with an Elder from Holladay, Utah and we
were wrapping up the day and things went down unexpectedly in that I had to end
up sleeping at their apartment. It was a grand time, lots of food and fun and a
little English which is a first in a few weeks. As one naturally does, I went
to bed BUT before--like a good Elder--I put on bug repellant because there are
a lot of mosquitos here and a lot dangerous diseases here. The next morning, I
woke up and saw a bunch of red dots everywhere and was very confused. After
talking to a Brazilian and giving the dots some time...I figured out there were
actually 103 mosquito bites!!!! Yes itchy. Yes gross. Yes real. No, not
exaggerated. It almost looks as if some mosquito was never trained on how to
use that little straw/sucker thingy on his face AND MISSED 102 TIMES. Geez.
Next time I´ll just let that mosquito have my blood because 102 bites is not a
fun time. Besides being an "all you can eat buffet" I really liked
the fact of getting weird stares this week as people stared at my bug bites. I
attached a picture of just one of my arms to show you it´s a real thing.
2. My heart was taken on an emotional rollercoaster this week
too. On Sunday, we came to church without any of our investigators there, but
one-by-one we had 8 show up. Every time I saw another enter I just thanked
Heavenly Father that whatever got these people here today--the Spirit, family,
classes?--that they would feel the Spirit if they really tried. It was such an
amazing experience. I also loved being able to look at one of our interested
persons, Daniele, and see the light in her eyes as she accepted the invitation
to be baptized this Saturday. Praying her mom will lighten up and not be so
worried for here, after all she is like 45, and just know how divine this work
is. Gotta give a shout out to my sister Lindsay because she said there will be
times that you´ll just feel the greatest amount of love and joy it´s amazing
you never thought you could feel that way. It took A LOT of work to get here,
lots of prayers, some tears, lots of days and burns and hot sun and 103
mosquito bites, but it is completely worth it!
Love ya all!!
