Favorite
moment right here:
*Sister Nelson goes to sit down after giving
a talk in the Brazil Devotional with President Nelson. President Nelson then
stands up and gives her a kiss and everyone kinda awwws*
President Nelson:
"Wendy will get a little better kiss later on." HAHAHAHAHA. I was
laughing SO hard haha. The funny part was the translators would wait to
translate what they said after so I was laughing so hard in this church for a
few moments while everyone looked at me weird and waited to hear what was
said.
The simple things make
a missionary laugh so hard haha. Sad, but true.
Quick story. This week
I was on divisions (splits) again with Elder Marquez who is from Venezuela.
I´ve always kinda looked up to him because at first he spoke Spanish and now, I
thought, he spoke such good Portuguese because everyone seems to understand
him. Well this day I got SO FRUSTRATED in myself because I could not understand
a word he was saying. He had to repeat everything so slow and so simplified and
I just kinda wanted to give up hope in myself. Well the next day I was with my
actual companion, elder Lopes, and a member who is my age. I was just
chattin´with her and she asked how my day I was with Elder Marquez as she
giggled a little. I kinda just sadly said it was so hard because I didn´t
understand anything. I was like I think he is speaking a different language or
something. She then laughed and said "Haha yeah. He speaks a lot of Spanish.
I actually understand your Portuguese better than his." What? Spanish? No
wonder why. I felt SO much better after because I was ready to just give up on Portuguese,
but LOOKS LIKE ELDER G HAS SOME NEW HOPE!
Quick thought,
President Nelson was talking about spiritual gifts and it was so touching. He
said there is NO limit to developing the attributes like Christ. Hit me hard.
This means that if we want to be more loving, pray for this gift and act in
faith diligently! If we want to be able to remember people´s names better or
scripture references, pray for this gift in faith and it will be given!
There is NO limit to developing spiritual gifts. Every person has at least one,
it´s a promise, but don´t be limited to this one. Don´t even be limited to 3 or
5. Develop every day to become like Christ taking one bite at a time of perfection.
Steady progress is the path to perfection!
Love ya all!
Elder Gardanier
