Here
is a story for you all.
It´s a level 100/10
cringe.
And 15/3 true.
This week at church
was awesome as always! My companion and I were sitting in the 5th ish row in
the very middle so we could be seen by everyone (important detail later on).
While sitting there the door to the foyer opened and a grandma walked in and
her granddaughter holding their motorcycle helmets just kinda looking around.
They looked so familiar to me but I couldn´t put my finger on it. I kinda
apprehensively waved and they lit up and walked over to us. I finally remember,
it was a lady who talked with the missionaries 10 years ago and didn´t seem too
interested but she invited us in and we had a quick cup of water and invited
her to church. We do this with A LOT of people so I was surprised to see that
someone actually took up this challenge! They came over and sat by us and I
quickly shook the hand of the granddaughter and then reached over to shake the
hand of Vania, the grandma. But NO. She wanted MUCH MORE than just a handshake
hahahaha. She came in closer and I thought she wanted to whisper something to
me but it quickly clicked that she didn´t when I heard "mmwahh." I
legit stiffed my whole body and tried to lean away but then she switched to the
other side and did it again. I. Was. Frozen. (Hey call this a Beijo--aka
kiss--but only the girls do it. I´ve never seen a guy do it to a girl, unless
dating. AND especially not to a missionary hahaha.) I felt my face go completely
red and it didn´t help that my companion literally was trying so hard not to
burst out laughing as he said "Tudo Bem" and then I just died when I
looked up and the bishop was hiding his face just laughing so much. I then died
when I turned around and saw ALL the members laughing to themselves and I just
wanted to give up the ghost. The rest of the day was fun hearing from all the
members about how red I got and what a fun experience I was able to share with
the whole ward.
Moral of the story.
God is a God of miracles. I´m not sure what touched this heart of this grandma
to skip her normal evangelical meeting to attend Sacrament and second hour. If
her feeling of the amazing spirit means me needing to take a few embarrassing
moments, I´LL DO IT HAPPILY.
Love ya all!
Elder Gardanier
